I’m amazed at how quickly this thing came together. It started out as someone’s old woods bike like 2 months ago, and now, it’s a street legal, street capable little pocket rocket! The only original things left are the Speedo, the main body, the fuel tank, and the swing arm, the rear hub/brake setup, and the seat. Which will be replaced soon as the pan is cracked. I think I’m in the whole bike about 1500 bucks, and it’s a blast! It wants to wheelie in first and second, and yet I can bury the 50mph speedo needle deep into the odometer, then slam to a stop with the front disk.

Oh god, I need one of those now. :D It’s like a baby Grom!

A baby, half price grom! Although it is a little bit bigger than you think it’ll be. I was surprised when I got it.
I also have 15cc more displacement than a grom, so there’s that

Man that looks awesome, well done! Might as well wave bye to the rest of the workday while I look for one of these. I’ve got a Grom and ride the piss out of it, but I’d love a companion for it.
Also, nice Ranger:) I’ve got one of those too.

Awesome. I met a guy at Daytona bike week who road tripped one of these all over the country. It was loaded down with all his stuff and he had ridden from Texas as I recall

That’s basically what I did. I found mine on craigslist, but there are usually one or two on Facebook marketplace as well. I actually ran around some parking lots with a grom before it was tagged, and it’ll keep up, even with my noobish , terrible riding. The ranger is a 2 owner, 5 speed 04 edge with like 110k and it’s been ok to me, except when it spun a bearing and needed a new engine. Which I stupidly decided I could do myself in my garage. My wallet liked it, (like 752 dollars all up for the swap including new clutch and flywheel instead of 4000 quoted from a mechanic) but I’ll never do it again. It also replaced the built focus st that I rolled, and it was a compromise from the f250 I originally wanted , so I’ll always harbor a tiny bit of resentment towards it, but it’s been a decent daily driver. Speaking of. Anyone selling a 94-97 f250 with a 7.3 powerstroke and a manual? Preferably ECSB? I’ve got a tasty fresh ranger with a new clutch in it that I’ll trade.

I’m planning on doing the 218cc big bore kit on the Grom as my winter project. That may change if I find a CT 70 the only two that I can find locally are mint, which is great but I’m kind of looking for a project. Only one of those two has a title. I think a lack of title will be a problem when getting it street legal.
My ranger is an 2 owner, 5 speed, 01 edge, with 67k on the clock (3.0 V6 RWD) . I enjoy doing little things to it because everything is so cheap, but I’m with you on the engine . What engine does yours have?

Also the 3.0 v6, it wasn’t particularly complex, and I did it with nothing but a craftsman tool set and a hoist, but it was just a chore after a week of nights and still not being done. And the title thing is obviously dependent on your county and state, but for Tennessee I just needed a notarized bill of sale, a “ certificate of ownership” which is just a form off the Tennessee dmv website saying you own the bike, and you have to catch the county clerk in a good mood to OK it. Seriously. She turned it down because it was the end of the day and the assistant told me to come back tomorrow, and make an effort to track the bike back (basically Fudge some names and dates to Make An ownership history that dead ends after a few names) and make it look pretty. I did those things, came back the next day, and she looked it over for like 10 seconds then gave the assistant the go ahead to give me a plate and a title.

In the words of Huell Howser, “That’s amazing!” I love those little bikes. Yours is only a tiny bit less cool than a road legal MotoCompo. But it sure is a close race!

I do love a good compo. It, and it’s city turbo carrier are my favorite combo I’ve ever driven home from the museum.

Wait. You own both?

No, I wish. I work for lane motor museum and I got to take it to a car show a while back.
